Funny Pictures & Photos

Why do some people refer to these images as photos while other call them pictures. I suppose that a photo implies that it is a photograph that is authentic and represents reality as shot through the lens of a camera. While on the other hand a funny picture could include any image from a painting, to a photo graph, to photos that have been digitally manipulated for the purpose of making people laugh. All of these are valid reasons and that is perhaps why more people search for funny pictures than for funny photos.

While a more logical explanation than other alternatives, I do not believe it to be the most accurate. The most accurate reason for this preference is probably due to American tendency to use the words photo and picture interchangeably. This tendency fails to note the slight distinction between photos and pictures. It is a habit that is kinda funny if you think about it.

But in the end, whether you search for funny photos of funny pictures what really matters is that you find images that make you laugh.
